Refund Policy
1. Introduction
This Refund Policy explains the circumstances under which Browser.lol (operated by Zesiger.net) issues refunds. It is incorporated into and forms part of our Terms of Service.
Browser.lol is sold as two auto-renewing subscriptions, Plus and Premium, billed monthly or annually and processed by our payment processor Mollie B.V. The free tier requires no payment, so nothing about it can produce a refund claim. Historic one-time purchases are addressed in Section 10.
Beyond the guarantees and statutory rights described in this policy, sales are final and additional refunds are granted at our discretion.
2. 7-Day Money-Back Guarantee (First Charge)
The first charge of every new subscription is covered by a 7-day, full, no-questions-asked money-back guarantee:
- You may request a full refund of the first charge within 7 calendar days of the purchase, for any reason or for no reason at all.
- Email [email protected] from the email address associated with your account; include your order ID or transaction reference if available.
- You do not need to justify your request or fill out any form.
- The refund is issued in full to the original payment method.
- Once the refund is processed, the subscription ends and the account returns to the free tier.
The guarantee covers the first charge of a new subscription. It does not cover renewal charges (Section 3), and it may not be used through repeated cancel-and-resubscribe cycles to obtain free service.
3. Renewals and Cancellation
- Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each monthly or annual period until cancelled. You can cancel at any time in your account dashboard or by emailing [email protected].
- Cancellation takes effect at the end of the paid period: you keep access until then, and no further charge is made.
- Renewal charges are not refundable, and we do not provide prorated refunds for the unused remainder of a period after cancellation, except in the cases described in Sections 4 to 6 or where mandatory law provides otherwise.
- It is your responsibility to cancel before the renewal date if you do not wish to continue.
4. Service Failure Refunds
A charge, including a renewal charge, may be refunded in full or in part if:
- We have experienced severe and prolonged service outages that made the core Services unusable for you for more than 7 consecutive days; or
- We have made material adverse changes to the Services that significantly reduce the functionality you paid for.
In such cases, the refund amount is reasonable in proportion to the impairment and is prorated based on the remaining unused portion of the subscription period.
5. Duplicate or Erroneous Charges
If you have been charged more than once for the same period, or incorrectly charged due to a billing error on our part, we will issue a full refund of the duplicate or incorrect charge. Email [email protected] from the address on the account, with the transaction date and reference.
6. Termination or Suspension by Us
If we terminate your account for reasons other than a violation of our Terms of Service, Acceptable Use Policy or Fair Use Policy, you are entitled to a prorated refund of the unused portion of the current subscription period. Accounts terminated for a violation are not eligible for a refund.
7. How to Request a Refund
- Submit a Request: Email [email protected] with the subject line "Refund Request".
- Provide Required Information:
- Your account email address
- Transaction ID or date of charge
- For requests under the 7-day guarantee, nothing else is needed; for other requests, the reason and any supporting documentation (e.g., error messages, screenshots, timestamps)
- Verification: We may ask you to verify your identity or provide additional information.
- Review: We aim to review requests within 5-7 business days.
- Decision: You will receive an email with our decision and, if approved, the expected refund timeline.
Refund requests under Sections 4 to 6 should be submitted within 30 days of the event giving rise to them; the 7-day guarantee and your statutory rights have their own time limits. Fraudulent refund requests may result in account termination.
8. Refund Processing
8.1. Processing Time
- Approved refunds are processed within 5-10 business days.
- It may take an additional 5-10 business days for the refund to appear in your account, depending on your bank or card issuer.
8.2. Refund Method and Currency
All payments are processed by Mollie B.V., and refunds are issued through Mollie to the original payment method, in the same currency as the original charge. If the original payment method no longer exists, we will contact you to arrange an alternative.
8.3. Prorated Refunds
Where a prorated refund is warranted, the refund amount is calculated as:
Refund Amount = (Total Paid / Days in Billing Period) × Unused Days
Prorated refunds are rounded to the nearest cent.
8.4. Account Status After Refund
- A refund of a subscription charge ends the subscription; access to paid features ends when the refund is processed.
- You retain access to the free tier.
- Data retention continues to apply as described in our Privacy Policy.
9. Chargebacks and Disputes
Please contact us before initiating a chargeback with your bank or card issuer.
If you initiate a chargeback or payment dispute:
- Your account may be suspended pending resolution of the dispute
- We will provide evidence to the payment provider to contest invalid chargebacks
- If the chargeback is found to be invalid or fraudulent, we reserve the right to permanently terminate your account, pursue recovery of chargeback fees and costs, and report the incident to fraud prevention services
- If the chargeback is valid, we will work with you to resolve the underlying issue
Given the 7-day no-questions-asked guarantee on first charges, most issues can be resolved faster by emailing [email protected] than through a chargeback. Initiating a chargeback in good faith is your right and will not by itself lead to account termination.
10. Historic One-Time Purchases
Until 2026, Browser.lol sold one-time purchases (Browser Unlock and Premium Lifetime). Those products are no longer sold, and the entitlements they granted remain honoured on Browser.lol as described in Lifetime, Defined.
- Each one-time purchase was covered by its own 7-day, full, no-questions-asked guarantee at the time of sale, and every request made inside that window was honoured.
- Because nothing that was paid for has been withdrawn, the end of one-time sales does not by itself create a refund claim.
- Duplicate or erroneous historic charges are handled under Section 5.
11. Consumer Rights (Switzerland and EU)
This Refund Policy does not limit your statutory consumer rights. Where mandatory law gives you more than this policy, mandatory law prevails.
11.1. EEA and UK Consumers: 14-Day Right of Withdrawal
If you are a consumer in the European Economic Area or the United Kingdom, you have a statutory right to withdraw from a distance contract for digital services within 14 days of purchase without giving any reason (Directive 2011/83/EU; UK Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013). We honour this right: notify us within 14 days of purchase at [email protected] or [email protected]. Where the law permits and you began using the service during the withdrawal period, we may deduct an amount proportionate to the service already provided; within the first 7 days of a new subscription, our no-questions-asked guarantee gives you a full refund regardless.
11.2. Switzerland
Swiss law does not provide a general statutory right of withdrawal for online purchases. Your rights under the Swiss Code of Obligations (CO), including warranty rights, remain unaffected by this policy. Our 7-day guarantee applies to Swiss customers in full.
11.3. Exercising Statutory Rights
To exercise any statutory consumer right, contact [email protected] with the details of your request. A plain-language description of the problem is enough; you do not need to name a legal basis.
12. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Refund Policy from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to active subscribers via email at least 30 days before taking effect. Changes do not affect refund requests for charges made before the change took effect.
